Re: Our Tsuga mertensiana (Mountain Hemlock aprox 15 yrs old) a couple of weeks ago suddenly started raining down green needles. Checked cambium layer; tree is dead. About the same time, started spotting unidentifiable redish brown caterpillar w/yellow & black spots, reddish tufts on sides & long tufts near head & tail. I can't get a focused photos of this pest but have attached it anyway. Do you have any idea how to get this identified? I still have it captured. thank you.

Happy Mother's Day!
Thank you, Mom! For teaching me to tie my shoes, for the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, for kissing the ouchie and making it well, for making me take typing lessons (and ball room dancing lessons, too), for making me do my homework, for handing me $20 for gas on my way back to college, for welcoming my wife into our family, for treating my grandchildren like they were your own kids, and for loving me even when I didn’t deserve it. You were the best, Mom. I am a lucky guy.
