How can I get rid of Carpenter bees without harming other bee pollinators? The carpenter bees are harming my barn.

So sorry. The buzz on the bees is you cannot use any pesticides that will get rid of carpenter bees without harming the other bees. What you can do is paint the bare wood surfaces as painted wood discourages the boring holes. You can also plug the nesting holes with caulking, wooden dowels or steel wool to stop them. One study said that using almond oil on the wood that was infested discouraged new nests almost as well as a pesticide treatment. Bottom line is these bees can do serious damage to wooden structures so you may want to get a professional pest control company to evaluate the infestation. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
