Marianne's Response

Sungron-question

I planted a small flower that I know as moss rose that needs very little water. I can’t find any references to it but know it has another name. I threw away the container marker in my orgy of planting so I’m stumped. Are you familiar with this plant and ,if so, can you tell me what it is really called? Thanks.

My best guess is you have planted a low growing succulent better known as portulacca. It is not a rose at all but thrives in hot sun with good drainage. There is another plant called moss rose that is actually a wild type of rose with lots of stickers along the stem. Perhaps you can look up Portulacca and see if the photo matches your mystery plant.
