Marianne's Response

Faster growing hostas

I purchased a hosta three years ago. When I planted it, I split it. One section hasn’t multiplied. It is still just one stem. What can I do to encourage it to get bigger?

Water - then water some more. Hosta respond to plenty of moisture in the soil. You can also sprinkle a tablespoon of Osmocote slow release plant food around the base of your hosta and if you keep the soil moist you will soon see new foliage. Hostas also do best in shade.
