Which Insecticides Are Safe to Use with Edible Plants?

I planted herbs in the ground and tomato plants. They are being eaten by bugs. What is safe to use in getting rid of unwanted bugs but will not be harmful to anything else? Seven?

Thank you!

First you need to find out what type of pest you are dealing with. Perhaps it is slugs in which case Sevin would not work. Roll up a page of damp newspaper and place this near your herbs. In the morning check the folds of the paper for earwigs, slugs or potato bugs, the most common pests. If you find slugs or earwigs there is a pesticide safe for use around edible plants called \"Worry Free Slug bait\" and there are other brands such as Sluggo and Escargo that also take cure of slugs. Another way to find the guilty pest is to lift and look under leaves and at the base of the plants. Handpicking insects is a very effective way of dealing with an outbreak in a small area.
