Can Osmocote Outdoor & Indoor Plant Food Be Used with Vegetables?

I have Osmocote Outdoor & Indoor Plant Food – not Osmocote Flower & Vegetable Plant Food. Will it put the most energy into the foliage and not into the vegetable and blossom? I wish to develop the edible portion the most. What about herbs?

Thank you, Chitown

No worries, you can use either formula on your vegetables as plants will take what they need most and both formulas are balanced for flowers, foliage vegetable and root formation. As for herbs, many herbs produce more flavorful foliage when they are grown in lean soil and so most herbs need much less fertilizer than other edible plants. If you are growing the sun-loving Mediterranean herbs such as oregano, thyme and rosemary, the small leaves tell you these plants are adapted to low water and low fertility needs. Put just a pinch of Osmocote at the base of each herb plant (5 or 6 granules) and you will be making sure all the essential nutrients are available but not encouraging too much lush growth of the herbs.
