Fast growing evergreen shrubs
Recently the people on the property next to ours clear cut a huge piece of their many acres. Now, instead of looking at a beautiful forest from our bedroom window we see stumps, slag piles, and dead trees. We are heartsick over the mess. What can you suggest to plant to make a border or boundary that may grow quickly so that we can look out and see something beautiful again rather than what we are seeing now?
Thank you!

There are some very fast evergreen shrubs called Port Orchard Cedars and you can purchase them already 6 feet tall at a reasonable price. These shrubs grow up (and also out), but they can be sheared or trimmed to keep them in a narrow hedge shape. A more compact hedge can be made using arborvitae columnaris and these are the common green pillar plants that will not need trimming to keep them narrow. You can plant them three feet apart to create an almost instant green wall. May you enjoy a view of green again soon. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
