Thank you for not feeding the birds
Not a question, just a comment. Thank you so much for your recent column “Don’t feed the birds birdseed; let ’em eat bugs.” Great information that really needed to be said. Thank you for bringing this important information to the public!

Thanks for your support! As you can imagine that was not a popular column with some kind hearted but misinformed folks. l am now weathering the storm of public outrage in some circles - but I agree with you it needed to be said. I did hear from some thoughtful bird lovers that suggested feeding the humming birds is okay as long as you clean the feeders and change the solution daily to prevent bacteria growth. I do agree that humming bird feeders will not attract rats the way bird seed does so feeding the hummers is still an option. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
