Ideal size for bark mulch?
What is the size of the “bigger” chunks of bark?
Also, after I thoroughly weed my garden, should I apply a pre-emergent weed preventer (such as Preen) before I put on the newspaper?

The size of the bigger chunk of bark mulch would be chunks that are as large as 2 to 3 inches. You will not need to use a pre-emergent product under the newspaper. Also you do not need to pull any small annual weeds such as shot weed. The small weed will suffocate under the paper and mulch. Just pull large weeds and deep rooted weeds like dandelion.
