Fall is a better time to move plants in your climate, unless you can move them in early spring, such as March when the rains are plentiful but the ground is not frozen. Make sure the roots are well watered before you dig and replant at the same depth as before, with the exception of the clematis which can be planted deeper than before by about six inches. Remember the new location will have more wind, but the plants you mentioned should be fine. Lavender and nasturtiums will also thrive in an oceanfront site. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
