There are several reasons your azalea may have brown leaves, but lack of water is the most likely. Azaleas like morning sun but afternoon shade and if they get too warm or the soil gets dry they throw a tantrum and refuse to bloom. Too much shade is another reason why an azaleas may not flower. The good news is that these shallow rooted shrubs are easy to move to soak the soil with water then dig up the sickly azalea and try growing it in a place where it will get no afternoon sunshine. The East side of the house is ideal. Be sure to add lots of compost or bark chips to the soil so that it can hold moisture yet allow air to pass.
