Marianne's Response
Amaranth, am I right?
Is the plant in the attached photo an Amaranth? The fuzzy blooms don’t look as plump and full as your photo. If it isn’t an Amaranth, what kind of plant do I have? And are the seeds in the white chaff under the red blossoms? Is it an annual or perennial plant?

Marianne's Response
Yes, the plant in the photo you sent is an amaranthus, but there are several types of this ancient grain plant. The one I grow (and also this one) are the type called \"Loves Lies Bleeding,\" but the one you photographed looks a bit heat stressed or drought stressed. Like most plants they grow differently depending on the amount of water, heat, and fertilizer. Mine grows in a pot and is well fed and watered almost daily. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
