Removing Rose of Sharon

I am removing a Rose of Sharon bush from my front yard, fairly close to my driveway. Do I need to kill the roots in order to prevent it from coming back? And if so, what product or method would you recommend for killing them?

No, you do not need to remove the roots. What you should do is cut the shrub to the ground and then immediately apply full strength RoundUp to the newly cut surface. The trunk will transfer this to all the roots and the shrub will not come back. Keep growing - but not that Rose of Sharon - Marianne Binetti
