How to trim a Calla lily

I purchased a calla lily plant in a pot. It was in full bloom, but now the flowers are dying off. How do I trim the plant, or do I?

When the flowers fade, you should follow the stem down to the base of the plant and remove the stem and the flower. Now the plant will just produce leaves, and these should be allowed to grow without trimming. When the leaves begin to turn yellow in the fall, you can prune these back to the ground or wait until spring and remove the foliage that will die over the winter. You can expect the plant to grow lank and floppy as summer goes on. This is normal but looks messy so you may want to prop the plant or grow something in front of it. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
