When to trim back broom

Hi Marianne. I recently asked a question about my creeping phlox taking over. i had a another question about a broom that i planted last year which also seemed to just doubled in size overnight. it’s starting to cover everything around it including some hydrangeas and some low lying shrubs. Again, I’m not sure if a trim is in order at this point in the season. i just don’t want to harm one to save another so to speak.

Pruning after blooming is the general rule of green thumb. That broom can be cut back by one half after it flowers with no harm done. Keep growing! Marianne Binetti
