Be patient - in the cool fall air it may take 6 to 8 weeks for a newly seeded area to fill in. You should not try to mow it with a power mower at first. use a push mower if you can or just let it get long all winter and mow in the spring. Sometimes if you seed in late fall it won't look great until the following March - yup, that was a mistake I made one year.
