Marianne's Response

I I have a cherry tree that has hard sap on the limbs. P Part of the leaves have shriveled up and died. What causes this and how can I prevent it in the future.

Marianne's Response
Sounds like a canker disease brought on by cool wet weather or a tree weakened by drought or poor drainage. Cut off the infected limb at least six inches from the wound or leak. Not much else you can do but I have seen cherry trees grow and survive despite the attack. Keeping a tree healthy is your best bet against the many cherry tree diseases.
Keep growing,
