gadenfool’s Question
After a flower dies, I was told to snip it off right below the flower. Is this correct, or do I go all the way down the bottom of the stem. Can you tell I am new at this and know nothing about gardening? Thank you.

Don\'t worry you are doing well just snipping off the faded blooms. Some plants with short stems you can remove just the bloom but most plants will look better if you remove the stem and faded flower. You won\'t harm the plant if you snip a bit too low or high. Roses should have at least 6 inches of the stem removed or down to a leaf joint. Some flowers like sweet peas and dahlias will bloom more if you continuously cut off the flower and stem to encourage more blooms. Welcome to gardening! Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
