lawn renovation – unthirsty lawns
I attended your “Unthirsty Lawns” class at the Sammamish Plateau a couple of weeks ago. (which I enjoyed very much!) I have a couple of follow up questions:
Can you recommend a company that follows your 4-step procedure (5-step if I add in dethatching), in the south end, specifically Kent and Renton. I looked up the one company your mentioned in class, but it does not service my area.
Also, any idea where one could purchase ‘sandy loam’ in bags?

Thank you for attending the class and so sorry I do not recommend companies in your area - but I would check with a local Master Gardener. They will be staffing booths in your area all spring. As for bags of sandy loam, I suggest you buy an equal number of bags of compost and sand. Mix half and half in your wheelbarrow and you will have sandy loam. It may be easier and less expensive to pick up a small load of sandy loam from a soil supply company if you can find a pick up truck to borrow. Now congrats on taking the steps to improve your lawn - aerating, fertilizing, topsoil and reseeding will give new life to an old lawn. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
