Second year Lavender

Last year I planted 5 lavender, in a row in full sun. They are a combination of Grosso Lavender & English Lavender. They are approx. 12″x12″ ball shapes now of nice green leaves, I purchased them in 4″ pots, locally grown. I put some store bought compost around them lightly. This is a 2 year new garden, 3-4′ wide on a new rock wall on Lake Roesiger. New home, new garden. Endless possibilities. Do I need to trim them this year before bloom? The picture attached is from Mother’s day 2020. Long time follower… Thank you

How lovely your lavender look. No need to prune them until after they flower in mid summer. Then you can prune them back into a ball shape. The cuttings or pruning crumbs from lavender are easy to root. Just remove the lowest leaves from the cut stems and poke into the ground. One in every 5 should root. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
