Marianne's Response

Yellow leaves are the sign of many different things but the most common are too much water, not enough warm sunlight, lack of fertilizer or even transplant shock if you just moved the plant. Keep your hibiscus in a sunny spot and do not water until you poke your finger down one inch into the soil. If the soil feels moist you do not need to water.   Do not allow the plant to sit in drainage water as this causes root rot and yellow leaves. The small holes in the leaves could be earwigs or even tiny snails. Go out at night and check with a flashlight for what is eating the foliage. Then you can pinch or capture the culprit. I am not sure what you mean by a film present - perhaps you could send a photo. I promise not to take so long to answer the next time. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
