Marianne's Response
What vine is this?
I have been unable to identify a vine that seems to grow incredibly fast. I was clearing a fence line (under tree canopy) on April 2nd. I went back about 6 weeks later and found these vines had come back up. The attached shows the whole vines after I cut them (about 18 ft long) and a close up of the base (about 1 inch in diameter) and a close up of the tops. They were growing virtually straight up until they grabbed onto tree limbs.
The area is Austin County, Texas, about 75 miles west of Houston.
What is it and how could it grow so fast???

Wow! That is one fast vine. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with this vine and I am not from the Texas area so I suspect it is local to your region. I suggest you take a sample to a nursery or Master Gardener to find someone better able to identify it. Keep Growing, Marianne Binetti
