Sweet shrub
I am attempting to manipulate a young sweet shrub into a standard. I knew nothing about the sweet shrub when I planted it. Am now wondering if it is the type of plant that will look nice as a standard. Your opinion.

I love my Calycanthus or Sweet Bush but it does best with no pruning except to remove any dead wood or tiny branches inside the shrub. In my opinion this would not be a good shrub to train into a standard or tree shape. It really wants to spread out grow wide and tall. I use mine as a screening hedge. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
