Fall and early spring are the best times to apply dolomite lime to your lawn as the rainy season will wash the product down to the grass roots. It does take several years for the additive to change the acidity of the soil and kill off the buttercups but with persistence, aeration and a healthy lawn you can change the soil and discourage the buttercups.
