Marianne's Response
Yes, Monarda, also known as Bee Balm, responds with more flowers if you cut off the faded blooms. This sun-loving perennial is a member of the mint family, so it is easy to grow and a pollinator magnet if you don't allow the soil to dry out. Hot, dry weather may cause mildew to grow like a white powder on the foliage. If you see mildew on the leaves, a drastic cure is to cut the plant almost to the ground. Water the well, and the new growth will be mildew-free. To keep the plants healthy, divide them every three to four years. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
