Marianne's Response
There is some half truth in the idea that African Violet leaves should not touch the pot or soil. The stems and leaves are very prone to rot so if allowed to touch moist surfaces such as a damp clay pot they will likely begin to get soft and rot away. This does not happen every time however. Healthy African Violets that are not overwatered can do just fine with the stems of the foliage touching the edge of the pot. Still it is recommended to remove any foliage that touches the edge of the container or any leaves that mature and start to wilt and turn brown. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
