Marianne's Response

Why is my ranunculus plant not blooming?

Ranuculus plant has stopped sending blooms. Is it time to dig the bulbs out or how long do I wait for more flowers? Thank you in advance for your response.

Marianne's Response

Dig it out. Once the spring blooming is done the tuber (a type of bulb) will go dormant but first all the leaves will turn yellow and make an unsightly mess. If you can store the bulb with foliage attached in a spot with dry soil all summer you can replant it in the fall. Of all the spring blooming bulbs, only daffodils make more of a mess than ranuculus once they are done flowering. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
