Alder seedlings in the lawn
We installed a new lawn from seed last October. The lawn sprouted nicely, but this past June we also got unwanted alder seedlings sprouting throughout! How can I get rid of them?

Those pesky alders are hard to pull up by hand but you can get a better grip and pull them up using pliers. You can also control them by mowing the lawn more often especially on a sunny day to expose the newly cut alder seedlings to the sun. Your lawn should grow thicker as it matures and if you keep it well fed and watered it will crowd out these baby trees. Keep growing, Marainne Binetti
