How to care for a Fuchsia plant, and shade tolerant perennial plants

Hi, I’m new at plants and have a small area under stairs on the south side of my house. It gets some sun. What would be the best plants to put in this area? I want something that will come back year after year. My husband got me a Fushia plant. It has pink with purple flowers inside the pink. Very pretty plant. I don’t know anything about this plant, there wasn’t any info with the plant. It came in a hanging pot. Can this plant be put in this area or goes it do better in a hanging pot? Thanks!

Most fuchsias like a cool shaded spot to hang unless you have a hardy fuchsia - the flowers will be smaller but the plant will be tougher. If you are new to gardening try growing a groundcover like ajuga or lamium under the stairs for year long color. Pansies may also do well and might reseed each year. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
