Marianne's Response

How do I take care of an Amaryllis?

I received an Amaryllis Galaxy Minerva for Christmas that had already bloomed. It is still alive and has put up a shoot in the side of the container. Should I remove and replant it or leave it alone? The container is only about 5 inches in diameter and 6 or 7 inches deep. I don’t know what to do next.

I suggest you do not remove the bulb from the pot but just leave it alone. The amaryllis likes being potbound and after the bulb rests and goes dormant for a few months it may surprise you with an encore performance of blooms. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
