When to harvest dill seed

I have dill growing and want to save the seed for use in recipes. The seed is yellow right now. Should I wait until it is brown before harvesting it? What is the optimal time to harvest dill seed?

You can harvest the seed of dill as soon as the lowest seeds in the umbrella or cluster start to turn brown. Place the seed clusters in a cardboard shoe box in a cool, dry spot and the seeds will ripen and fall into the box. They can than be stored in an airtight jar for winter use. Love that dill flavor. Don't forget to harvest and use the leaves as well. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
