Amount of Osmocote Plus to use in container fruit plant
Hello,
I just want to make sure I’m calculating this correctly. I have a number of fruit trees in containers.
So, if I have a fruit tree in a 15 gallon container and want to use Osmocote Plus, every 6 months I would use approximately 7.5 scoops, i.e about 22.5 tbsp or 1.4 cups of Osmocote Plus on the top of the soil and rake it in. Is this correct?

Hi, James! A 15 gallon container contains 2.3 cubic feet of growing media (soil). To feed that much soil, apply 219 grams (about 8 ounces). That's less than you were calculating (7.5 scoops = 324 grams, or 11 ounces). As best you can, mix the material into the container's growing media. If it were my project, I would wear gloves and use my hands/fingers to distribute the material into the container's soil. Bob Stohler, PlantersPlace.
