Planting tips for tulips

I purchased a container of 6 tulips. How do I plant them? Do I keep them together or separate them?

I suggest you separate tulips and plant each one in it's own hole at least six inches from the others. Try not to disturb the foliage but cut off any faded flowers. Tulip bulbs like to be dry in the summer when they are dormant, so put them in spot that you will not water and that has great drainage. You can even plant them in a container. They may bloom again next year but sometimes they are picky and decide to send up only foliage the second year. This is why many gardeners just treat tulips like annuals and buy new bulbs each fall, plant them, and enjoy the blooms in the spring. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
