Are potshots OK for vegetable plants?

I want to use some potshots nugget fertilizers in my container vegetable plants, specifically a lime tree, bell peppers, and tomato plants. Are these okay to use for these plants, and what time of year is best to use them on these plants if so?

Yes, Pot Shots or the new nugget sized versions of Osmocote is great for using on edible plants in containers. The best time of year to add the fertilizer nuggets to your containers is at planting time so that it is easier to push the nugget down into the top 1 to 3 inches of soil. For most edible plants this means in the spring. Be sure to follow the recommended rate of how many nuggets to use listed with the Pot Shots packaging. For a one gallon container you will need just one nugget, but for a larger container such as a 5 gallon pot you should poke 3 nuggets into the soil. The nutrients will be released for 6 months and the warmer the soil the faster the plants grow so the more quickly the fertilizer will be released.  The granules are finished with a coating of soybean oil and are safe for all edibles. This is a new product that you can order online so let us know how your container plants do with the Pot Shots. Keep Growing, Marianne Binetti
