Chipping branches for mulch

I am trimming my lilacs. Can I chip the branches and use them in my gardens as mulch?

Yes, lilacs and most other shrubs can be chipped up (stems, leaves and bark) and used as a mulch around the roots of your plants. This will help improve the soil by adding organic matter and also conserve moisture over the summer. Keep chipping, Marianne Binetti
