Ficus plant with white flies

I think I have whiteflies on my ficus. How do I get rid of them? It is a houseplant in a very heavy pot, so it would be difficult to move outside.

White flies love ficus plants. You can use Ivory soap and water to wash each leaf as the soap will kill the mites. You can also spray with malathion following the instructions of the label. You will need to treat again and perhaps a third time as the eggs will hatch every few weeks. Good luck and stay with it and you will overcome the white fly problem. If the plant was outside I would suggest you spray with a strong jet of water three times a day, for one week. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
