Banana pups from the mother plant are easy to remove and transplant. Make the new planting hole wide maybe three feet) but not so deep (6 to 8 inches) as bananas have no tap root but spread outward instead. Any well drained potting soil or into the ground with plenty of organic matter will be fine. Just know that bananas are tropical so will be killed to the ground by a frost and killed completely if there is a freeze. It is almost impossible to give a banana too much water or fertilizer. This plant drinks and eats a lot to provide for the fast summer growth. If you apply an all purpose plant food like Osmocote in the spring use the recommended amount but then add half as much more.
