Best cucumber for the garden
We have grown cucumbers for years with minimal success. What is the best cucumber to grow in the garden for taste and productivity?

The answer to the best cucumber to grow depends on where you live. In a cool summer area like the Pacific Northwest where I live an early hybrid such as Garden Sweet Burpless sold by Ed Hume Seeds is a great choice as our growing season is shorter for warm season crops like cucumbers. All cucumbers benefit from rich, well drained soil with lots of processed manure and compost added to the soil before planting. For your climate you should check with the local Master Gardeners to see if they have a variety they recommend for your region. Harvesting when the cukes are young and at their prime and not letting the roots dry out are tips for better tasting cucumbers no matter where you live. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
