Best Outdoor Pot for Full Sun in Lake Tapps

I’m looking to plant a memorial tree or bush in a pot outdoors. What kind of pot works best in full sun? Also, what kind of bush or tree will attract hummingbirds but is deer resistant? Thanks so much!

In full sun I recommend a foam type of pot for a tree or shrub that will grow in the same pot for years. Although the imitation clay or stone pots are not authentic, they are light weight, will not crack in the winter and will not heat up to bake roots in a full sun location. They are also a lot less expensive as you will want a large container for a tree or shrub. I suggest a hardy hibiscus pruned into a standard or tree shape. This is also called a Rose of Sharon shrub. A lovely variety that is white is called Diana, and this shrub/tree blooms late from August to October which is when you are most likely to be enjoying your patio on the lake. Be warned it does loose its leaves in the fall and doesn't regrow foliage until late spring even as late as May. Butterflies and hummingbirds love hibiscus. You will find this plant at local nurseries, or you can order it from Monrovia. May all your memories due to the planting of this memorial plant be warm and happy. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
