Tall ground cover with white flowers?

My MIL has talked about a plant she used to grow and cannot find. I would love to find it for her. It appears to be a tall ground cover with white flowers. She has always referred to it as “company flower.” Any ideas what this could be???

Marianne's Response

So sorry I have never heard of a ground cover called company flower and after doing some research in old gardening books I came up empty. My best guess is the groundcover called lily of the valley as it has green leaves about 8 inches tall and spikes of fragrant, bell-shaped white blooms. This old fashioned groundcover blooms in the shade in mid spring and does well in woodland gardens. The Latin name is Convallaria magallis. Good Luck, Marianne Binetti
