Broken Green Bell Pepper Plant

I was bringing some pepper plants to my science class this morning and one of them and broke the stem below all of the leaves. It is a relatively young plant about 4-6″ in height. Can I plant the top half of the plant and have it grow or all hope lost and throw it away?

Hope is not lost! Keep that bottom half moist and away from the cold (peppers love sun and can not handle cold nights below 45 degrees) and it is possible the stem will sprout new leaves. Next trip, seat belt for everyone including the plants. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
