Starting vegetables in a backyard greenhouse
How do I start vegetables in fall and winter in a backyard greenhouse in Memphis, Tennessee? I have black protection and I am getting things for them to stay warm. They will be in containersâall winter vegetables.

Consider growing leafy cool season crops such as kale, lettuce, spinach, and Swiss Chard. Containers with good drainage and a potting soil that also has fertilizer like Osmocote potting soil are recommended for winter vegetables. Good air circulation is important in greenhouses to prevent leaf rots and blights. Consider using a fan to move the air or vent the greenhouse each day to improve air circulation. There are several books written about winter vegetable gardening and they will have details on growing specific crops. Check your library or Amazon for \"The Year Long Vegetable Garden.\"
