Marianne's Response
Where can I find a zebra-striped primrose?
A friend last year had purchased a zebra-striped primrose in Seattle at a local store, not a specialty nursery. I can’t find them. Any ideas as to where I might purchase them? Thank you!

I too love the purple striped primroses and they do great in Western Washington gardens. I have seen these striking perennial primroses for sale at Windmill Gardens in Sumner, Washington, at Molbaks in Woodinville, in Puyallup at Watson's Nursery and I am pretty sure Swanson's in Seattle will have a supply this spring. Now here is a tip. New and unusual plants sell out soon so visit the nurseries now before the spring plants arrive. Request any special plant you want and offer to pay a deposit. Then most nurseries will give you a call when the primrose shipment arrives and set aside some plants for you. Most local retail nurseries do not grow their own plants but instead place orders from wholesale growers in the area that then deliver the plants when the season is right. Pre-ordering plants now will insure that you have access before they sell out. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
