Thanks for the photo - your garden is lovely. Prune rhodies and azaleas after they flower in early summer. Cut to a joint or even to the middle of a branch because where you cut is where the plant will resprout. You can prune off one third of the plant every three years to keep them compact. You can also use hedge shears to tip prune the new growth of your azaleas. Just shear off the outer three to four inches of the plant to create more branching and a fuller but more compact azaleas. Water well especially in the late summer when your rhododendrons will be setting buds for next year's blooms. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
