First, Osmocote works best when used in the spring as it is warm soil that activates the fertilizer and feeding shrubs in the fall can cause tender new growth that is then damaged in the winter. You want to encourage the new shrubs to prepare for winter not sprout new growth. I suggest you use one tablespoon of Osmocote around the base of each shrub in late spring when you see foliage emerging from trees and shrubs.
