Marianne's Response

You can start new African Violets by taking a leaf cutting from a plant or by removing a side shoot from the mother plant. Stick the stem of the leaf or the side shoot recently cut from the main plant into a moist potting soil and cover with a plastic bag to increase humidity while the new cutting grows roots. Vent the bag when moisture drops form. The art of making new plants is to keep the rooting medium moist but not too wet while the new root system grows. It may take several cuttings to get one to catch but don't give up - you are learning with every failed cutting you take. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
