How to keep bamboo plants from spreading
I have Golden Bamboo that was planted 13 years ago on the property line. There was a barrier installed, but now the roots are coming outside the barrier on both sides. Our neighbor wants me to do something to keep the roots off his property. What do you suggest I do to take care of this? We have cut the roots, but they keep spreading!

Cut the roots and than paint the cut end with RoundUp. This will kill the root and perhaps part of the bamboo but it will come back. You may want to dig a ditch all around the plants and fill with a concrete barrier. Mowing the edges every five to seven days will also keep the new shoots from spreading so quickly. I do not recommend growing bamboo as it always seems to get out of control. The long term solution is to get rid of the bamboo plants. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
