Azaleas need water - lots of water but they also must have perfect drainage. This means if you are talking about potted azaleas enjoyed indoors, they may need water twice a day in a warm house - but can't be allowed to sit in their own drainage water so empty that saucer! If you mean outdoor azaleas, then be prepared to protect them from the cold wind that dries out their foliage. Plant them in a protected corner or cover with burlap during cold spells. You can always try the more wind and cold resistant Exbury Azaleas - these loose their leaves in the winter so they are more wind and cold tolerant.
