Planting roses in Hawaii
I would like to know what would be the ratio for black cinder and soil to be used in 10 gal container to plant roses in. I live in Hawaii and it rains somewhat. I don’t want to use too much soil and it drowns the plant. I know that rose bush needs a lot of sun and a good drainage. Please help me in growing my roses.
Thank you

Aloha and I wish I could promise you a rose garden but I have never gardened in the tropics so my lack of experience limits my advice. Roses do need sunshine, good drainage and good soil so I would recommend you fill the raised bed with a potting soil that contains fertilizer such as Miracle Grow potting soil. They even make an organic potting soil. The local nurseries in your area would sell the best type of potting soil for your tropical location. Keep growing, Marianne Binetti
