Marianne's Response

Christmas cactus

Was given dried up plant. Flower buds were dry, soil was dry. Plant is alive but after 4 months no sign of growth. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Marianne's Response

Christmas cactus can survive dry soil and dried up buds so I would soak the soil then cut the plant back by one half. This pruning will stimulate new growth and then once you see fresh leaves add some Osmocote to the top of the soil, give the plant bright light near a window and it may surprise you. Do not overwater this plant. Let the soil become bone dry between watering. Good luck and Keep Growing, Marianne Binetti
